Hey, you made it!
Well, this is my Secret Dossier. After going to so much trouble to get here, you are going to read it, aren't you? Hope you're not disappointed.
My name is Hagar Hagarson. I make and collect all sorts of puzzles. I am very interested in science, and have been since my primary-school years in the rural village of De Moer on the outskirts of Tilburg, the Netherlands. I built a moon rocket; travelled around the world in my home-made fruit-crate ship; spent hours peering through the microscope I got from Santa; and made the neighbourhood unsafe with experimental stink bombs from my chemistry kit.
I haven't lost my interest in science. However, my dream of becoming an inventor hasn't come true. I have great admiration for people such as Leonardo Da Vinci,
Samuel Loyd, Henry Ernest Dudeney and, more recently, M.C. Escher. Now I have seen the big six-O, and can only apply for the patent rights on my three children.
My wife Frija, who I kidnapped from England, shares my passion for science. She is an ardent amateur astronomer and can often be found in our very own, albeit small, observatory, where she scans the heavens with our four-inch refracting telescope in search of spectacular astronomical phenomena.
Some years ago I decided I wanted to do something on the Internet and so I started archiving the classic and original puzzles that were presented in Alt.brain.teasers. That's how this web site originated.
Later I have gotten help from my alter ego Jan Merolant, who also maintains a monthly FAQ. If anyone out there knows of interesting and especially strange or less well-known puzzles, I would be very grateful if he/she would mail me a description. Maybe I'll put it in the archive.Pretty gripping stuff, isn't it?
If you would like to contact me about puzzles, you can do this via E-mail or contact Jan for any comments or questions.
