Solution to the Taruah Puzzle


I've got this one on display in my living room; how about you?

Take two of the ten identical pieces and lay them in the shape of a cross. Do this with the other six identical pieces. Place the four crosses opposite each other so that they fit together. You now have a freestanding figure. Now take one of the two remaining pieces from the identical ten and one of the mirror-image pieces and make another cross. Do the same with the two remaining pieces. Push one cross diagonally into the top and turn it; push the other cross into the bottom and turn it.
The puzzle is now complete. While you are putting the puzzle together, place a small box, with contents, in the open space within the puzzle. The trick is then to get to the contents of the box.
