| Ernö Rubik was born in the air-raid
shelter of a Budapest hospital during World War II. His
mother was a published poet, his father a renowned
aircraft engineer who started a company to build gliders. After graduating from college classes in sculpture, he went back to learn architecture at a small college called the Academy of Applied Arts and Design. | "The problems of puzzles are very near the problems of life. Our whole life is solving puzzles. If you are hungry, you have to find something to eat. But everyday problems are very mixed -- they're not clear. The Cube's problem depends just on you. You can solve it independently. But to find happiness in life, you're not independent. That's the only big difference." Ernö Rubik | |||
For those who want to learn to solve the cube, there is a very nice downloadable cube solver here made by Maarten van Gestel. |
